Healdsburg AAUW 2018-2019 Year in Review

Membership: Initiated more efficient process for enrolling new members; established New Member Mentor program; new member information sent monthly to Board. Membership stands at 213 members.

Reading Rocks: Program continues successfully. Volunteers at Healdsburg Elementary and Westside Schools serving approximately 110 students. Holiday book giveaway.

Future Prep: Four sessions at both Cloverdale & Healdsburg High Schools.

GEMS: Three well attended field trips.

Fundraising: Successful Healdsburg AAUW Forum & Annual Healdsburg Homes Tour continue to raise the majority of funds to support scholarships and grants.

Programs & Public Policy: Co-sponsored a film & panel discussion on opioid addition; organized a joint program with the Santa Rosa Branch for Women’s History Month, supported 2 candidate forums; publicized Equal Pay Day via city proclamations & an Unequal Pay Day event. Developed & conducted a Money Matters workshop for the EYH Conference.

Grants/Scholarships: Awarded over $99,000 in scholarships & grants; worked with a Cloverdale family to award three $500 scholarships in memory of a high school student.

Financial: Developed mechanisms accounting for restricted scholarship fund & established investment relationship to achieve top available FDIC insured interest rates. Moved banking relationship to another local bank to improve financial benefits for the Branch.

Social: A very active & fun year – picnic, kick-off party, Holiday party, Annual meeting/Garden Party; Lunch Bunch gatherings, Wine & Dines and Happy Hour parties. Introduced a new Cultural event format. Extending some events into the summer months.

Branch Communications: Created new logo to be more inclusive of our Branch coverage; established a Branch Instagram account; established Spotlight feature in the Grapevine; improved the overall publication process for our public events.

 

2018-2019 Strategic Goals & Status

Goal #1 Establish a mentorship program that trains 4 mentors to work with the class of 2019 Tech Trek girls.

Status: STEM Director added to the BOD with goal to establish program.

Goal #2

Develop a New Member program that integrates, so 80% of new members attend an event/activity/interest group within 3 months of joining.

Status: Program in place and successful
