State and National AAUW Public Programs and Priorities
The California and National AAUW entities each have their own Public Policy Program, with strong advocacy efforts to promote policies that advance equity for women and girls. California’s Public Policy Program is closely aligned with the National AAUW program.
California The AAUW CA Public Policy Program supports its mission to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research, and complements the National Public Policy Program. AAUW California’s priorities for action are chosen according to the criteria of viability, critical need and strong member support. National AAUW’s Public Policy work connects and rallies advocates at the local, state, national and global levels to advance our work to empower women and girls. With the member-endorsed Public Policy Program as our guide, AAUW uses lobbying and grassroots efforts to push forward policies that break through educational and economic barriers for women.
Every two years, AAUW members vote on revisions to the organization’s Public Policy Program. During the 2015 AAUW national convention, voting took place on all recommended and proposed changes for 2015-2017. For details, please click here.
